ORRVILLE – Heavy, late afternoon thundershowers washed away Saturday’s scheduled Fast Five racing series program at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway near Orrville.
The 3-8-mile will return to action this Saturday (August 19), however, with a rare 6-division slate highlighted by the second appearance of 2023 by Aaron Fry’s BOSS wingless sprint car series in the inaugural Rusty McClure Classic that will join the paperclip-shaped oval’s weekly card of 410 Sprints, Super Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Mini Stocks.

The Sprint Cars will be racing for $3,000-to-win presented by Benjamin Steel, with the Super Stocks gunning for a top prize of $1,027-to-win in the 27-lap Danny Gardner Memorial. It will also be the second of the three-race King of the County Series for Super Stocks presented by Platinum Designs of Mansfield. Brandon Morrow bested Kyle Moore in the series’ first event on May 27.

Eastern Pennsylvania veteran Carmen Perigo nudged California ace Ricky Lewis at the stripe in the BOSS series’ first visit on May 6 that featured a field of 25 entries. Lewis is currently the nation’s leader with a season-high nine non-wing victories.

Saturday will also mark the ever-popular Quota Club of Wayne County’s Kids Night at the speedway. 50 or more grand prizes for a bicycle or better will be given away with a total of over 600 prizes. Kids also receive a meal of a hot dog, chips, cookies, and bottled water located at the Quota Club’s tent located just outside of turn one.

Fans should also take note of the earlier start time, with gates opening at 2 p.m. with hot laps starting at 5:30 and racing to follow the Kids Night activities.
