TUCKE & POTTER WIN CLOSE WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY FEATURES

After 2 months of Saturday rainouts, ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ finally got some racing in along with the Night of Destruction demolition derbies despite some sprinkles later in the night. Canton’s Braden Tucke grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Canton Glass House Super Stock feature and spent all 15 laps holding off last years track champion, Brandon Craver, as he made several challenges but could never get by the Bishop’s Collision & Repair, Speedie Auto Salvage and MTS Transport #77 of Tucke. As those two battled for the win, Mark Edwards and Jose Marsh Jr. went back and forth for third with Edwards winning that battle with Ryan Tope claiming fifth. Matt Hensel and Tucke won the heat races.
In the JoyRide Transport Sport Compact feature. it mirrored the Super Stock race as David Potter took the point at the start of the 15 lap race and he would spend the whole race fending off Johnny Bruce, last season’s champion. Bruce, who was the heat winner, could pull alongside the Serpentini of Orrville, River City Solutions and Staley Racing #100 of Potter several times but could never make the pass. Justin Cranmore, Devin Haefke and Jacob Syx filled out the top five.
The evening ended with five classes of Stixx Up Promotions Night of Destruction demolition derby.
Next up for Wayne County Speedway will be the All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Sprint Speedweek Duffy Smith Memorial on Monday, June 15. Past winners of the Duffy Smith Memorial have been Sheldon Haudenschild (2), Kyle Larson (3), Rico Abreu, Aaron Reutzel, Cap Henry, Justin Peck, Tyler Courtney, Jordan Ryan and Bryce Lucius. Last season the ASCoC made three visits to WCS and all three had first time winners with the All Stars and they were Lucius, Henry Malcuit and Kasey Jedrzejek. Will there be another 1st time winner this season? The Modlites will make their first appearance of the year on Monday also.
