MARKHAM, FAIRBANKS, DROWN & WATTS WINNERS ON NIGHT 1 OF WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY’S DIRT BLOWOUT

Night one of the Bob Schippers Memorial Dirt Blow Out at Orrville’s Historic Oval with free admission, took place under cool but dry conditions as Ryan Markham and Barry Fairbanks both returned to the Summit Racing victory circle during Friday night portion of the Dirt Blowout as both won last years opening night features with Doug Drown and Brayden Watts, who won his first ever feature, also hit the Summit Racing victory lane.
For the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Model main, it got off to a rocky start with two caution flags before one lap was completed. Once it went green,Nathen Loney and Doug Drown along with Larry Bellman battled for the top spot in the first five laps. Disaster would strike both Loney and Drown a s the both got tangled up with a lapped car in turn one on lap five as both received damage to end their night, giving the lead to Bellman. On the restart, Markham would power past Bellman for the lead with Todd Brennan, Tyler Evans and J R Gentry in tow. Bellman’s strong run would end on lap 10 as the power plant in his #59 would go up in fire and smoke. From that point on, Markham and his Ashland based B&B Drain Service, Chuy’s Tacos, Ocala Restaurent Supply and Mars Trucking #5m would hold off several challenges from Todd Brennan but in the closing laps would pull away for the win with Gentry, Evans and Kevin Davis following.
Belpre’s Barry Fairbanks grabbed the lead from the outside front row of the Canton Glass House Super Stock Feature and never looked back as the Discount Pool Supply, D.B. Fabrications, Doors Unlimited and Lawrence Family Farms #17 built up a straightaway lead until the caution flag waved on lap 13, which gave Rocky Kugel a chance but when the green flag waved again, Fairbanks drove away to collect his second straight Friday night Blow Out win. Kugel finished second as Colton Shaw made a last lap pass on Brandon Craver for third and Braden Tucke filled out the top five.
Tristen Bickford and Took Wiles brought the Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service Modifieds to the green flag but it was Jason Brennan at the front at the end of lap one with Eric Wilson, Jess Hartman and Doug Drown in hot pursuit. Hartman would slip past Brennan on lap 14 and on the next circuit Brennan made contact with the turn two wall ending his night. On the restart, Drown and his Kepling Floors, McKenzie Concrete, The Shortstop and Joyride Transport #21d overpowered Hartman going into turn one and hold off Hartman in the closing laps for the victory. Wilson would take third ahead of Ryan Markham and Jason King.
Justin Cranmore set the pace for the opening three circuits of the Joyride Transport Sport Compact main until Brayden Watts took over. As Cranmore fell to second, Billy Dawson ran third and as the headed down the front stretch on lap five, they made contact that sent Cranmore flipping several times. He would be ok but his car was finished for the night. Watts, of Crooksville and his Town & Country Realtors, Motto Mortgage, Hazer Services and SM Motorsports #53t hold off Dawson. until he pulled off with mechanical issues with three laps to go, giving Watts a big lead and collect his first ever feature win, David Potter took second with Sean Rush, Michael Richards and Todd Gallion rounding out the top five.
Night two of the Bob Schippers Memorial Dirt Blow Out at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway is tonight, September 26 with the same four classes along with the OVSCA/Pine Tree Towing Sprints adding to the program with the Joyride Transport Sport Compacts going for the Sam Huffman Memorial paying $1,000 to win. Hot Laps/ Qualifying at 6 pm and racing at 7 pm.
