FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 All Set!
Orrville, OH --- Despite the April 21 fire at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH putting the track out of operation for two months, dirt Late Model fans will be happy to learn that the inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 will be held as originally planned as a cooperative promotional effort between Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway and Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH. The series will run on consecutive nights July 4-7 and will carry a total payoff of nearly $100,000
“We are mighty pleased that we will be able to open for our Monday June 25 race featuring the 12th Annual Pete Jacobs Memorial as part of the Ohio Sprint Speedweek but we have also decided to forge ahead and run the inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 for the Super Late Models as well,” revealed Ernie Coffman, promoter & owner of the 3/8 mile banked dirt oval. “We were going to begin construction on our new concession stand immediately after the Speedweek show but we have decided, based on popular demand and interest, to go ahead and run the joint effort with Lakeville.”
“We won’t have a new concession building constructed but there will be concessions available those nights,” explained Coffman. “We are thankful for everyone’s concern and interest in the track and we’re thankful that the track will be up and running for that very special night.”
Each Super Late Model feature event will be 40-laps paying $4,000 to win and $420 to take the green flag and race time will commence at 8:00 PM each night. On Wednesday July 4 the inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 will kick-off at Lakeville Speedway then continue at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway on Thursday July 5 before returning to Lakeville on Friday July 6 and then wrap up on Saturday July 7 at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway.
Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks will also be in action during the holiday series and purse and bonus money information will be announced soon.
“This will be a good series of races for the fans and drivers, the races pay well, and we are planning some special promotional things for the fans,” said Coffman. “We are already looking at expanding it next season and have a couple tracks interested. But for this year both tracks are offering race fans lots of outstanding Super Late Model racing with minimal travel. This will be an annual Speedweek and there will be tracks added next year.”
“I think it is really going to be an exciting deal,” commented Bob Schippers, owner & promoter of Lakeville Speedway. “What I’m looking forward to is the week before a lot of guys are in the area and with Ernie and my race tracks’ only being 27 miles apart hopefully we can keep some guys in the area, save them some traveling money, they can camp at both tracks and the fans can see something they don’t have to spend a lot of money on to see so many good racers.”
“It’s going to be a level playing field for all those drivers and a lot of money can be won by one guy with this Speedweek,” added Chuck Griffith, general manager of Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway. “To bring this to the table already, and two race tracks so close in proximity to each other, this should be named a ‘fuel saver weekend’. But man, this deal is going to be a killer for the fans and drivers. I can’t wait.”
The races will be unsanctioned. More information will be released in the coming weeks.
