Chuck Griffith New FAP/WCS General Manager
Orrville, OH --- Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH will have a new General Manager for the 2007 racing season at the popular 3/8 mile dirt oval with the recent announcement by track owner Ernie Coffman that he has appointed Chuck Griffith to the role. Griffith, a long-time FAP/WCS announcer and former public relations director, will work on promotions, marketing and the overall weekly racing program for the track’s 42nd season of operation that will feature Super Late Models, Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Pure Stocks & Mini Stocks each Saturday night.
“I’m tickled to death,” stated Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter of FAP/WCS. “(Former GM) Tina (Heil) did a good job for Wayne County Speedway. Chuck has been around forever, he knows everybody, he’s a good fellow, good heart and he is exactly what Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway needs now. He will be General Manager and I know he’ll do a good job. I’m excited. Chuck will still do some announcing too, along with Rich Berry.”
Griffith, of Ashland, OH, has spent many years involved in Ohio dirt track racing as an announcer, public relations director and race director at FAP/WCS as well as Lakeville Speedway, Eldora Speedway and Mansfield Raceway. Additionally, Griffith has hosted several radio shows, notably the Thrills On Wheels radio show for six years. Griffith has also worked in live racing broadcasts and television work.
In 2006 he worked as the FAP/WCS announcer and Lakeville Speedway Race Director. He also worked for FOXSports as one of the broadcasters of the MACS sanctioned FalllFest race held at Challenger Raceway in Pennsylvania and co-hosted the three day pre-race live broadcasts from the Dirt Track World Championship at KC Raceway.
Griffith is excited about his new role in the 2007 racing season at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway.
“I’m thrilled to take on the role of General Manager at Wayne County Speedway,” stated Griffith. “Tina Heil laid the groundwork, set up the basis and now it’s up to us to carry the ball. She did a great job with sponsorships for the season and we’re going to do everything to grow beyond what we already have.”
“I’m also looking forward to working with our many, many professional race teams that compete each week at the track in all of the divisions. Our weekly line up is second to none with the Super Late Models, Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks. I’m really fired up about the Coffman’s bringing the Sprint Cars back each week.”
“We have a solid schedule planned and we’re going to offer the best racing with the most exciting divisions. Our working relationship with Lakeville Speedway is also a major plus and both tracks are now Hoosier Tire tracks. We are also planning many activities for the race fans each week. It’s going to be a fantastic season at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway and it all kicks off on Saturday March 31.”
