Wayne County Speedway ‘Adopts’ Children For Holidays

Orrville, OH --- Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH and Wayne County Children Services have teamed up for the holidays to present the Christmas Make-A-Wish Program that will help provide an extra special Christmas morning for several children in the Wayne County area. The ‘adopted’ families & children have already been selected. Drivers, fans, car owners, staff and sponsors are encouraged to participate in the program. The collection will take place on Sunday December 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM EST at the race track.

“Over the years you have generously contributed to the cause of helping children or someone in need and that's what makes the sport we love so awesome,” stated Tina Heil, General Manager of WCS. “We are fierce competitors on the track but more importantly a close knit ‘racing family’ when it comes to helping others.”

“With the holidays upon us we are all looking forward to sharing special moments with the ones we love. We head out in the ‘hustle and bustle’ to buy our children the perfect gift and look so forward to seeing the looks on their faces when they tear through the wrapping on Christmas morning.”

“Not all parents have the luxury of providing that for their children so we have decided to pull our resources together to help three families this Christmas season with the help of the Wayne County Children's Services. If you could help in some small way, whether it be a monetary donation or purchase an item of clothing, a toy or even food and personal items, we can make a difference for these families.”

“Imagine the looks on their faces when a bundle from the Wayne County Speedway is delivered to their doorsteps.”

Below is a list of our "adopted" families. It has been prepared by the families’ case worker and items are listed in order by need.

the daily necessities). They recently moved in to a home with no closets and could use any household items and furniture.

A. Tariq - Boy Age 4: Clothing - Pant/Shirt Size 5, Shoe Size 11 (needs jeans and

winter boots); Toys - Likes Dinosaurs but anything age appropriate

”Because we are making this call out to many people, duplicates may be an issue,” added Heil. “Please place your tags and receipts in an envelope with the child's name on the front of it (for the Caseworker's eyes ONLY). This way if there is duplication or improper fit, the item can be exchanged.”

“I imagine we could receive more donations than 3 families will need, if that happens, we will match presents up with other needy children. Below is the list of families we are helping. Please open the attached documents for delivery information and also a list of gift suggestions provided by Children Services.”

“Thank you so much for your help and Happy Holidays to each and every one of

you!”
