Written by Ryan Pearson. Posted in Results

Orrville, Ohio (July 27, 2012) On NAPA night at NAPA Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway race fans were treated to an action packed night full of great door handle to door handle dirt slinging action.

In the Fisher Performance 410 Sprint s Wooster Ohio’s Danny Mumaw jumped out to the early lead just ahead of Broc Martin, Andrew Palker, Bryce Dickson, Chris Myers, Aaron Middaugh and Cole Duncan. Mumaw lead was short lived as Martin dove under Mumaw to snag the lead. Martin found the inside lane to his liking as he held the point. Mumaw running the extreme high side was his preferred way around the track. On lap eight the lapped car of Ron Lute spun coming to rest near the guardrail. This caused Mumaw to take evasive action to narrowly miss Lute. When the racing resumed Martin powered ahead to hold a comfortable lead but as the laps clicked down Mumaw began a late race charge. Mumaw and Martin traded slide jobs and on lap eighteen Mumaw and Martin made contact and Mumaw took the lead. At the checkered flag it was Mumaw who held on to win ahead of Martin, Palker, Duncan and Jamie Myers. Winning heat races were Palker and Mumaw.

In the Lias Tire Super Late Models belam ensued on the opening lap as the leaders of George Lee, Cory Conley, Ryan Markham and Shane McLoughlin were racing hard two and three wide and resulted in Conley spinning in front of the field. This cause massive pile up that resulted in Damon Haught to spin and strike tire and go air born, Haught was ok but he would retire for the night. When the green flag dropped again Lee jumped to the lead. Lee pulled away from the pack but on lap fourteen Conley pulled up on the rear bumper of Lee and began stalking him waiting for a mistake. Lee held the lead until the last lap and Conley pulled alongside Lee as the raced down the back stretch with Conley holding the inside line. Lee attempted to make the highside work but to no avail as the checkered flag waved it was Conley coming home victorious over Lee, McLoughlin, Charlie Duncan, Wayne Maffet Jr and sixteenth starting JR Gentry. McLoughlin and Conley won heat races.

In the Bremenour Electric Modified division Jess Hartman jumped to the early lead he was chased down by Travis Dickson, Mark Dickson, Tanner Wilson, Kevin Morehouse and Norm Aronhalt. Morehouse who started sixth began pushing toward the front as he used the middle of the track to slip past Wilson and Mark Dickson and set his sights on the leaders. Hartman held the lead but Travis Dickson was right on his tail. Travis Dickson dove to the inside of Hartman but Hartman powered back to the point on lap eleven. On lap tweleve Travis Dickson moved to the outside to slip past Hartman for the lead. Morehouse watched from the third position and also motored past Hartman for second. At the finish line it was Travis Dickson coming home the winner ahead of Morehouse, Hartman, Aronhalt, Mark Dickson and Wilson. Travis Dickson and Hartman won heat races.

In the Thrifty Discount Muffler Pure Stocks it was Mansfield Ohio’s Jeremy Dickerson jumping out to the early lead. On lap two second place running Chase Alexander spun and struck the uke tire collecting Brandon Gardner. When the racing resumed several drivers battled for position as they raced two and three wide. Dickerson held the lead but Justin Patterson was right on his bumper and applying heavy pressure to the leader but on lap ten Patterson looked like he might have found a way around Dickerson but took his car to the pits retiring due to mechanical issues. On lap thirteen Brandon Craver dove under Dickerson to take the lead. Craver held on to take home his first victory at NAPA Auto Parts WCS ahead of Don Baney Jr., Dickerson, Josh Miller and ninth starting Gary Hensel. Dickerson and Gardner won heat races.

Chaney, Dickinson, Wisecarver, King winners at NAPA Auto Parts WCS

Written by Ryan Pearson. Posted in Results

Orrville, Ohio (July 20, 2012) NAPA Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway Officials swung open the gates and the fans that were in attendance were treated an action packed night full of great racing on Whites-Maibach Ford night.

In the Fisher Performance 410 Sprint division it was Port Vue Pennsylvania Pete Miller III who jumped to the early lead. On lap four Jason Dolick jumped the cushion in turn one and flipped bringing out the red flag. Miller held on to the lead when the racing resumed but the red flag was displayed again when Aaron Fry who attempted to miss two cars who spun and were blocking the track jumped the cushion and climbed the wall and flipped. Once the green flag flew Miller took the point and held the lead. Wooster, Ohio Broc Martin began charging to the front as he passed Andrew Palker and closed in on Miller. Martin began stalking Miller and slipped past him to take the lead. Sixth starting Rob Chaney blast past Miller and Cole Duncan and on lap seventeen caught Martin as the cars were in lapped traffic. As Martin was leading took the low line he was blocked by a lapped car thus allowing Chaney on the highside to slip shot around and take the lead. Duncan began charging to the front also passed Martin for second and tried to catch Chaney. It was too little too late as the checkers flew for Chaney who took his second win of the season. He was followed by Duncan, Martin, Aaron Middaugh and Miller. Palker, Chaney and Danny Mumaw won heats.

In the Lias Tire Super Late Models it was Shane McLoughlin who pulled out to the point ahead of Doug Drown and Russ King. On the opening lap King powered past Drown to take second and dove under McLoughlin to take the lead. As the cars were in turn 3 and 4 contact ensued between King and McLoughlin allowed Drown to blast passed them both to take the lead. King was able to pull away from McLoughlin for second place and got into a rhythm as he chased down Drown. George Lee jumped up to third place and began applying heavy pressure to King for second place. On lap eleven Lee wheeled in to the pits with mechanical issues. On lap eighteen King entered turn one on the outside and overtook the lead and never looked back. At the finish line it was King followed by Drown, McLoughlin who fell back to seventh and worked his way back up to the third place finish, Wayne Maffet Jr and eleventh starting JR Gentry. King, Lee and McLoughlin won heat races.

In the Bremenour Electric Modifieds it was Jesse Wisecarver who took the early lead. On lap three the caution flew as second place Norm Aronhalt hit and spun Wisecarver. Aronhalt then retired to the pits as it was brake failure that caused him to hit Wisecarver. That moved Travis Dickson to second, Mark Dickson to third and Anthony Kinkade to fourth. Kinkade looked like he was shot out of a cannon as he flew past both Dicksons and began pressuring Wisecarver. On lap twelve Kinkade passed Wisecarver to take the lead. On lap fifteen the caution flew as the leader Kinkade came to stop on the race track with mechanical issues. This handled the lead back to Wisecarver. At the checker flag Wisecarver took the win ahead of Travis Dickson, Mark Dickson, Sid Danals and Tanner Wilson. Winning heats were Kinkade, Travis Dickson and Jess Hartman.

In the Thrifty Discount Muffler Pure Stocks it was Kyle Dickinson who took the early lead ahead of Justin Patterson, Jeremy Dickerson, Shaun Cains and Gary Hoopingarner. On lap five Dickerson struck the guardrail bringing out the caution as he was running third. When the racing resumed ninth starting Don Baney flew past Cains and Hoopingarner to jump to third place. He attempted to catch the leaders but it just wasn’t enough as the checkered waved it was Dickinson taking home the win in commanding fashion. He was followed by Patterson, Baney, Hoopingarner, Gary Hensel and Cains. Dickerson, Dickinson and Patterson won heat races.

Duncan, Hensel Sr, Aronhalt and B. Hensel winners at NAPA Auto Parts WCS

Orrville, Ohio (July 13, 2012) Once again the racing at NAPA Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway was action packed as Santmyer Oil night found a first time winner in victory lane and a father son team who picked up the wins in two separate divisions.

In the Fisher Performance 410 Sprints Cole Duncan jumped out to the early lead from the outside front row just ahead of Duane Zablocki, Rob Chaney, Andrew Palker, Chris Myers, Danny Mumaw and Broc Martin. On the second lap Martin spun out and collecting Lee Jacobs. On lap five the red flag flew for Chris Smith who spun out and was t-boned by Butch Beasley who couldn’t avoid Smith. On lap eight Chaney retired for the evening with mechanical issues while he was running third. By lap twelve Duncan who was setting a blistering pace began passing lapped traffic. On lap fifteen Zablocki who was running second blew a left rear tire nearly causing Palker to crash as his tire came apart in front of the field. Zablocki returned to the action only to dive to the infield as the field took the green flag, with mechanical issues. The green flag dropped and the racing heated up. Palker and Mumaw sliced and diced for second place as they traded slide jobs. Mumaw took second from Palker and set his sights on Duncan. Mumaw was too little too late as the checker flew for Duncan who won his first feature at WCS. He was followed by Mumaw, Palker, Myers, Dolick, Jamie Myers and Aaron Fry. Palker and Duncan won heat races.

In the Bremenour Electric Modifieds DJ Cline and Dave Bodkins brought the field to the green flag. Before a lap was completed the caution flew for Sid Danals who spun. Under caution Cline returned pitside with a flat tire. He returned to action but had to re-start from the tail of the field. This moved up Norm Aronhalt to the outside front row starting position. Aronhalt blasted to the lead just ahead of Bodkins, Mark Dickson, Travis Dickson and Jeff Johnson. Aronhalt held the lead but Travis Dickson appeared slightly faster than the cars in front of him and he began applying pressure to his father Mark. T. Dickson looked high and got a great run off turn two but M. Dickson slammed the door shut and kept T. Dickson at bay. On lap twelve Cline who earlier went to the tail had slipped past Bruce Miller for sixth place and was digging for more. On lap eighteen the caution again flew erasing a nine second lead for Aronhalt for Charlie Summers who spun. When the green flag flew it set up a green white checkers. T. Dickson still searching for traction found the highside to his liking and got beside M. Dickson for third place. When the cars crossed the finish line it was Aronhalt taking the win, Bodkins narrowly finished second ahead of T. Dickson, M. Dickson and Johnson. Cline and M. Dickson won heat races.

In the Thrifty Discount Muffler Pure Stocks Jeremy Dickerson motored to the lead in front of Chase Alexander, Gary Hensel, Brandon Craver and Josh Miller. Things were getting exciting as Dennis Amstutz, Jamie Gibbs and Todd Gallion raced three wide for position on lap five. It didn’t last long as Amstutz spun bringing out the caution. On lap seven Alexander caught Dickerson and began pressuring the leader. With Alexander plastered to his rear bumper Dickerson and Alexander battled for the lead position. On lap nine Alexander dove under Dickerson to take the lead. The caution flew on lap thirteen for Don Baney who spun. Under caution Dickerson’s collided with Alexander ending both their night on the wreckers and handing the lead to Hensel. When the racing resumed Miller pressured Craver for second but was unable to complete the pass. Taking his first checker flag this season was Hensel, he was followed by Craver, Miller, Roger Drouhard, Don Baney and Todd Gallion. Dickerson and Craver took the heat wins.

For the Mini Stock Mayhem it was Brad Hensel who jumped to the front of the pack and took the early lead ahead of Moose Workman, Gary Hensel, Doug Hensel and Jason King. Fourth starting Jerry Adkins had trouble on the initial start and fell back to tenth place on the first lap. On lap three Doug Hensel slipped around Brad Hensel to take the lead. By lap six Adkins worked his way to third position and began chasing down Brad Hensel for second. It was a tight battle for the lead as both Hensel and Adkins battled it out. Another three way battle waging this time for the fourth position as Tyler Wiles, Dustin Daughtery and Lester Berry fought hard for position. On lap fourteen Adkins dove under Brad Hesel to take the second position, but Brad fought back to take it back from Adkins. For the next four laps both Doug and Brad Hensel fought door handle to door handle swapping the lead each lap. At the finish line it was Brad Hensel taking the win just ahead of Doug Hensel, Adkins, Wiles, Daughtery and Berry. Brad Hensel and Adkins were your heat race winners. Special thanks to Gary Hensel, Royal Mast and Tom Ogle of Ogle Auto Sales for sponsoring the Mini Stock Mayhem event.
