On a hot summer night, it was another action packed night of racing at Wayne County Speedway with the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints returning to action. The front row of RJ Jacobs and Jason Dolick would set the early pace as they dueled back and forth for the lead in the first seven laps with several lead changes between the two. Wooster’s Dean Jacobs would take over second from RJ Jacobs on lap eight and then overtake Dolick coming out of turn two on the next circuit. From that point on, Dean Jacobs and his B & B Drain Service, Harbaugh Electronics and Accu- Force Shocks #9 would lead the way to his second win of the season. Dolick would stay close to the winner for second. RJ Jacobs would fall back into a battle for third with Jordan Ryan and the two would make some contact on lap 21 with Jacobs night ending with front end damage with Ryan continuing on to finish third. Fast qualifier Trey Jacobs would finish fourth and Tyler Street grabbed fifth and the Hard Charger Award after starting 10th. The red flag would wave before the field made one lap as rookie Wyatt Zimmerman took a tumble in turn three. Heat wins went to Trey and Dean Jacobs. JR Gentry started on the pole of the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Model feature and he would hold off early challenges from Jerry Bowersock and lead all the way aboard the Wooster based, El Campesino Restaurant, Holmes Pest Control and Skurts Custom Apparel #14 to claim his second victory of the season. Bowersock would run race long in second. In the middle part of the race, Brad Malcuit, Cody Scott and Larry Bellman was changes positions on each circuit as Mitch Caskey, last weeks winner was moving through the field. With two laps to go, Scott suffered a flat tire and dropped out as Caskey got past Bellman for fourth following Malcuit across the line and Bellman taking fifth. Caskey started 15th and would collect the Accu-Force Shocks/Kar Connection Hard Charger Award. Matt Irey and Gentry posted the heat wins and Will Thomas collected the National Floor Source $200 quick time award. Scott Peltz used the outside front row starting spot to lead the way for the opening four laps before giving way to Joel Watson but his time out front lasted only one lap as Mansfield’s Kyle Moore took over. Starting 7th, and with a bounty riding on his shoulders, Moore took the point coming out of turn two and never looked back for his third win at “Orrville’s Historic Oval”. Driving the Moore’s Used Tires, Kepling Flooring and Arnold Motorsports #11* swept the night as he pocketed the National Floor Source $100 quick time award and won his heat race. A caution with five laps to go gave Casey Fritz, who came on strong in the last half of the feature, a chance at Moore on the restart but Moore used the high groove to pull away. Peltz would finish third with DJ Cline and Steve Rex filling out the top five. Fritz and Nathan Loney also were heat winners. Driving the Bob Daugherty owned R C Kuhn & Sons, Smith Fabrication and McKenzie Concrete #21d, Moore would return to victory lane in the McKenzie Concrete Super Stock feature. Moore would start on the pole but early cautions kept the field bunched together which gave Michael Amick a chance and would swipe the top spot away from Moore on lap five and stay out front for the next four circuits when Moore recaptured the lead and pull away for his second win of the night. Amick cruised to a second place finish as it was a dogfight for third place between John Wilson, Brandon Craver, Chase Alexander and Gary Hensel Jr. as they would finish in that order. Don Rutt, who was involved in a red flag incident with Mike McElravy in the feature, Wilson and Moore topped the heat races. Brandon Morrow picked up the $100 quick time award thanks to Took Wiles. It was a rough and tumble feature for the JoyRide Transport feature that saw Steven Lester roll in turn one at the start of the race. Once the feature went green, it was a six car battle for the lead between Chac Dawson, the leader for the first five laps, with Cory Staley, Doug Hensel, Jordan James, Dustin Bedlion and Colton St John as those drivers were at times three wide. James would take the lead on a restart on lap six and the Loudonville driver would keep the Lochevale Farms, Thompson Memorials and the Ugly Duck Bar & Grill out front for his first win. Bedlion would take second with Staly third followed by Johnny Bruce Sr. and Dakota Graciani as Dawson, St. John and Doug Hensel had problems late in the race. Ryan Carder won the last chance race for the second week in a row as Staley, Bedlion and Hensel scored the heat wins. Bad Boyz Tree Service added a $100 to the winner. Racing action for next Saturday, July 25th will be the Buckeye Late Model Dirt week with the Hans and Don Gross Memorial with $3,000 going to the winner of the Malcuit Tavern Super Late Models. The Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints, the McKenzie Concrete Super Stocks and the JoyRide Transport Mini Stocks are on the racing card also.
